Can Type Dance?

Our have an experimental streak—our favorite proposition is “what would happen if…”

For this Oakland-based dance company specializing in movement suspended in vertical space, we developed a kinetic identity based on a typographic mobile.

To create the typography for the Cielo wordmark, we built a typographic mobile, then shot stills and video of it rotating in space. We rotoscoped the footage to remove the structure of the mobile, and composited with footage of a colorized sky.
